8 years ago to the day the music world lost a rising star who was only yet to reach her full potential, Aaliyah Dana Haughton. In 22 short years she captured fans around the world with her first big hit "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number" all the way to her last official video "Rock The Boat." To celebrate the life and career of Aaliyah, SoulCulture has teamed up with ten progressive soul artists to record interpretations of their favorite Aaliyah songs for this new EP, Aaliyah Revisited. The features include Marsha Ambrosius, Jesse Boykins III, Sy Smith (Brand New Heavies), Tawiah and Baby Sol, Jonas, Vula, and more. Says Marsha of the project: "Aaliyah exuded confidence, she touched many people in such a short time and her legacy lives on through the wonderful music she gave us." Lancé dans le music game à 15 ans par R. Kelly avec l'album : Age Ain't Nothing But A Number (1994), véritable carton et classique post-NewJack. Puis avec One In A Million (1996) et Aaliyah (2001) elle sera la 1ère chanteuse a anticipé l'ère du nouveau R&B en collaborant avec de jeunes beatmakers et artistes (à l'époque) : Timbaland & Missy Elliot ou Rodney Jerkins. En 7 ans, elle s'imposa et vendus 32 Millions d'albums dans le monde et sa popularité post-mortem est encore plus grande.
